Milestones Evaluations

Babies, kids, and teenagers develop so quickly and at their own pace that it can be difficult for parents to notice or understand signs of abnormal development.

Sure, you’re looking for things like when your baby starts to crawl, but Dr. David Orchard helps parents understand that a baby who doesn’t crawl for very long or a baby who uses an unusual crawling method could have musculoskeletal abnormalities that need to be addressed.

These abnormalities aren’t anything to be afraid of. Often they can be corrected with simple at-home exercises.

Even new babies should have a checkup with a Chiropractor because the experience of being born, often being pulled out by the head and/or shoulders, can be a traumatic experience that can have subtle negative repercussions to the muscles and spine.

If there are any noted abnormalities, Dr. David Orchard assesses and treats a baby’s muscles and spinal joints to increase blood flow and reduce muscle tension, which helps decrease discomfort and allows the baby’s body to heal itself.

Milestones Evaluations are a pay-as-you-go service, so there’s flexibility to book your child more appointments if they are necessary.

Typically, the appointments for Milestones Evaluations happen at the following stages:

  • Newborn to 6 months

  • When your baby starts crawling (typically around 9 months)

  • When your baby starts walking (typically around 12-18 months)

  • When your child starts Kindergarten (age 4-6)

  • Age 10

  • Age 13

  • Age 16

Milestones Evaluations are booked as separate appointments. To book, call the office at 519-725-1300 and specifically ask to book your “Milestone Evaluation” appointment with Dr. David Orchard.
